Greencombe is a delightful garden, situated on the Exmoor coast, just above West Porlock, with sweeping views across the Bristol Channel. The 3.5 acres woodland garden was started in 1946 by Horace Stroud. Since September 1966 it has been in the care and custody of Joan Loraine whose created the beautiful garden you can see today.
The Combe (or valley) behind the garden gives the place its name.
The gardens contain for national plant collections: Erythronium, Polystichum, Vaccinium and Gaultheria.
From April to July the garden is open to the public. More details will be following soon, as will photos of the garden and a few blogs by the great Joan Loraine herself.
