Moorland Managers gain from Moor Skills project
The West Somerset Community College Farm is currently hosting a series of Lantra courses as part of a Moor Skills project that benefits local moorland farmers and managers, who can get free places on the courses thanks to an EU and Lottery-funded Heart of Exmoor Scheme.
Jason Ball, the Scheme Manager, says: “We are boosting the skills of moorland farmers and managers, thanks to the generous funding from West Somerset Local Action, Leader for Torridge and North Devon, and the Heritage Lottery Fund.”
“West Somerset Community College is the perfect farm location for the Lantra courses. Together we are also running practical on-the-moor workshops to help young people learn directly from moorland farmers, contractors, hedgelayers, ecologists, archaeologists and National Park rangers.”
