Bert Bruins is a local artist who captures the spirit of Exmoor in his paintings.

Since starting painting in oils at the age of 13 I have experimented with many styles and media.  I attempt to show the intense beauty of our world, sometimes in abstract, in close up, and in landscape. Brought up in the Netherlands, but resident in England since 1990, I have developed a love for the British landscape tradition, in particular the Scottish colourists and the “railway poster” artists of the 1930s. Some of my other interests (architecture, lino-print) get a look-in also. Please note that latest works are to be found at the end of each gallery.

Exhibition spaces change frequently, but amongst other places where you can see my work are the Tavistock Art Gallery at 17 Duke Street, Tavistock, the Salar Gallery in Tavistock and the West Gallery at West Putford, Holsworthy, all in Devon.
