On a chilly winter’s morning deep in the valley a frosted village sits whilst the sun rays slowly rise at Withypool, Exmoor.

Withypool is a small village in Somerset, England, near the centre of Exmoor National Park and close to the border with Devon. The word Withy means “willow”. Withypool is in the Barle Valley on the River Barle. The village lies on the route of the Two Moors Way and the Celtic Way Exmoor Option.

To the southwest of the village lie Withypool Common and Withypool Hill.

Thanks for looking, Rich.

“The winter light hits the frosted valley whilst the small river water flows by at Simonsbath, Exmoor.

Simonsbath is a small village high on Exmoor in the English county of Somerset. It is the principal settlement in the Exmoor civil parish, The River Exe rises from a valley to the north, and the River Barle runs through the village and is crossed by a triple-arched medieval bridge that was extensively repaired after floods in 1952. The settlement lies on the route of the Two Moors Way and close to the Macmillan Way West.

Thanks for looking, Rich.”

County Gate

A golden landscape from a autumn in full colour whilst deep in the valley walls two homes slowly loose the afternoon light at County Gate, Exmoor.
County Gate, as the name suggests is where Devon and West Somerset meet. Its location offers great views over the East Lyn valley and Doone Country. There are several energetic walks from here into Doone Country or down to the coast.
