“This male lesser redpoll was outside my window just after 6am this morning, on the ornamental cherry tree. His colour patches matched the leaves! I’d like to think there is a female too, and they’re breeding around here somewhere!”

Apologies that it has taken so long to post the winners from February who are going through to the final of the 2020 Exmoor4all Photo Competition. As we had a tie we have 11 winners in February:

Here are the top ten photos chosen by our followers on Facebook from all images submitted to our photo competition in January! These photos will go through to our final selection which will be presented to our panel of judges who will choose our 13 images for the 2021 Exmoor4all calendar.
Don’t forget that the March competition is open! You can upload up to three photos via our website – Good luck 🙂

The River Barle in beautiful winter sunshine.

On a chilly winter’s morning deep in the valley a frosted village sits whilst the sun rays slowly rise at Withypool, Exmoor.
Withypool is a small village in Somerset, England, near the centre of Exmoor National Park and close to the border with Devon. The word Withy means “willow”. Withypool is in the Barle Valley on the River Barle. The village lies on the route of the Two Moors Way and the Celtic Way Exmoor Option.
To the southwest of the village lie Withypool Common and Withypool Hill.
Thanks for looking, Rich.
