An Evening with Singer/Songwriter Barry Walsh

An evening with folk musician Barry Walsh

We’re excited to be hosting a night with Somerset based Barry Walsh who will entertain us with folk music and story telling.

Somerset based Barry Walsh is an acoustic/roots songwriter and has been around quite a while. His backlog includes Porlock Hill, Bring Her Home, the Matthew, the Curzon and the Strawberry Line to name a few, and his current song the โ€˜Willow Manโ€™ is being played out on BBC Radio whilst supporting the plight of the old fella on the M5!
Oh, did you know he was also responsible in naming โ€˜Castle Bridgeโ€™ in Bristolโ€ฆ

Date: 8 October 2022

Doors open at 7.30pm

Exmoor Supper Club: Join us for a Bavarian Feast

Join us for a fabulous Bavarian Feast on Friday, 30 September, at Allerford Village Hall as part of the Exmoor Supper Club.

Enjoy a sumptuous dinner, starting with Bavarian cold meats & cheese platters, served with locally made pretzels; followed by beef cooked in red wine, pork cooked in beer, Bavarian creamy wild mushrooms, served with red cabbage, sauerkraut, mixed veg and roast potatoes/mash/German pasta; and finished with caramelised almonds, Bavarian cream and apple tart.

We treat you to a welcome drink, German beer with your meal and, at the end, a German schnapps.

*Please advise us of allergies and dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Elke Koessling-Winzer, who is a German cookbook author, is cooking for you tonight. The recipes are authentic as are some of the items on the menu (such as Bavarian cold meats and cheese specialities), but where possible we use locally sourced produce.

Porlock Hill to the Weir and Culbone Church

Making the most of a stunning autumn. Porlock Hill, down through Pitt Farm and Parsonage Farm to Culbone Church, then on to Porlock Weir. Deep breath and back up the hill from West Porlock.

Just under 4 hours but lots of stops to take in the views, they never disappoint.
