Exmoor Arts: Light and Colour

I don’t do photography but I do paint. I now live in the area and Exmoor features in my recent work, which I have been posting on my Facebook page.  I use the Brushes App on iPad to do my paintings (that are then digitally watermark for sharing safely online).  I did the attached painting yesterday : “Somewhere   along the North Devon coast”.
You asked (for a local journalist) what makes Exmoor special? I replied … light and colour, which I think explains why there are so many talented artists in the area. Best regards, Hannah
PS Here’s my FB link if you’d like to see it. I set it up to give me a target of regular posts with new work to get me back to painting after moving to the region (mission accomplished – I’m now a member of North Devon Arts too); I’m also hoping it will allow more people to see what I do.  https://www.facebook.com/ArtbyMrsRoberts

Paintings of Exmoor

Bert Bruins is a local artist who captures the spirit of Exmoor in his paintings.

Bert Bruins Since starting painting in oils at the age of 13 I have experimented with many styles and media.  I attempt to show the intense beauty of our world, sometimes in abstract, in close up, and in landscape. Brought up in the Netherlands, but resident in England since 1990, I have developed a love for the British landscape tradition, in particular the Scottish colourists and the “railway poster” artists of the 1930s. Some of my other interests (architecture, lino-print) get a look-in also. Please note that latest works are to be found at the end of each gallery.

Exhibition spaces change frequently, but amongst other places where you can see my work are the Tavistock Art Gallery at 17 Duke Street, Tavistock, the Salar Gallery in Tavistock and the West Gallery at West Putford, Holsworthy, all in Devon.
I am currently exhibiting at The Flying Pickle in Gold Street, Tiverton and at The Real Food Cafe in Paris Street, Exeter
